"It takes one skill set to write a book. It takes an entirely different
skill set to promote and sell tens of thousands of copies."
Subsidiary Development and Spin-Offs
As you read some of the details below, keep in mind that I have been doing grassroots marketing and PR for 15 years, and I am passionately committed to investing both my time and money in this project.
To be sure that "Shoes" addresses a real market demand, I engaged the services of AuthorBound, a division of Content Connections, to do comprehensive market research on this book. Content Connections, have involved over 300,000 people in reviews, virtual focus groups, and surveys over the past seven years. They’ve worked with major publishing houses like Wiley, McGraw-Hill, Houghton-Mifflin, Penguin, and Simon & Schuster. They’ve had a lot of success, but in many ways they’ve been a well-kept secret.
Until now, Content Connections’ proprietary research methods have only been available to authors working with a publisher. Through AuthorBound, I was able to use their collaborative market research tools to develop and fine-tune my concept, and build an audience for my book BEFORE I publish. (I had over 500 reviewers look at my book).
How many authors demonstrate this level of commitment to writing the right book, and absolutely understanding the market? I believe it is my obligation to my audience, both known and unknown to write a book that uncompromisingly addresses their deepest concerns.
I have a proven ability to attract free publicity from chain bookstores. Borders management has requested that they launch “Shoes” in the Northwest by sponsoring a comprehensive extensive book tour of many United States locations (see enclosed letter). At the grand opening of the Borders in Gig Harbor, Washington I sold more than $1,000 in audio CDs, and quote card (“Courage of Leadership Cards”) products in a two-hour time frame, up against other in-store events, including a New York Times bestselling author. Imagine the sales that will result when I am the featured and promoted author!
I have repeatedly been told that I am “media-genic”. I know how to get media, television, radio and print. For example, in the Northwest alone, I have been a frequent guest on KOMO’s Northwest Afternoon, KCPQ-13 Fox News, KIRO and KING 5 News (ABC) Evening Magazine.
