"Corporate America is hemorrhaging female talent: They will demand this book because they can no longer afford the high cost of female turnover."

Corporate America is hemorrhaging female talent and will demand this book because they can no longer afford the high cost of female turnover. Supporting and nurturing women is (simply) good business. According to the Gallup Organization, only 30 percent of all U.S. employees are engaged in their work, while 54 percent of their colleagues are not engaged and 16 percent are actively disengaged. What is the price tag for this lack of emotional commitment? About $250 billion a year! No wonder supporting and nurturing female talent is a hot corporate value. No wonder ‘retention’ is on the tip of corporate America’s tongue.

“Shoes” promises to re-engage women in their lives and in their work. Engaged people are not only happier people, but more productive and, therefore, more profitable. Organizations have been buying ”Who Moved My Cheese” since 1998 because they have wanted their employees to embrace change as a core value. Similarly, they will buy “Shoes” to demonstrate their commitment to female success as a core value because the financial and emotional health of their organization now depends on it.

Timing is everything. Never has the timing been more perfect for this book.  The evidence is compelling and it’s growing every day. Corporations want their female employees to succeed. The research on women and leadership is overwhelmingly obvious. For the first time in history, the United States has a strong female presidential contender. The media is obsessed with the role of women, the power of women, and the impact of powerful women on our country’s and the global economy.

With a projected 11.4% yearly growth in the number of self-help books to be published through 2010, (an estimated value of $13.9 billion annually) and with the vast majority of self-help / human potential titles being purchased by women, the message for "Shoes" is timely.  Women who purchase self-help books in 'women's issues' categories are hoping...no praying, that someone will help them to be happier, more passionate and more on purpose in their lives.

Women have the shoes. Nancy shows them how to walk in them.
